What is the Community Innovation Lab?

The Community Innovation Lab (CIL) at University of Kentucky is a multidisciplinary network of academics, community members and community-based organizations working together to pioneer social change in communities around the world. At CIL we engage with communities - where solutions can be imagined, invested and nurtured - to explore, develop and apply social innovations.

Our Solutions

We help forward thinking community members, leaders and organizations develop the skills needed address societies’ most complex social problems, by applying decades of our findings from academic research and work out in the field. Based on that experience, we organize our support efforts in three interconnected areas that we find imperative for success.

Cultural, Social & Emotional Intelligence

Build foundational skills needed to do community based work with diverse audiences and stakeholders.

Community Engagement & Facilitation

Develop skills and techniques for building long-term and effective relationships with community stakeholders.

Creativity, Innovation & Social Impact

Leverage new methods and processes to help you identify, develop and refine innovative solutions with the community.

We’re ready to help you pioneer social change.
